Commodore’s Summary of the Trustees Meeting 12/22 1900
We had a good turnout considering the proximity to Christmas with 9 trustees and 3 members.
The Treasurer reported that the dues went out, he has received some responses from the note that was in the latest Centerboarder.
The Vice reported that the barn was nearly finished and would be so in the next week weather permitting.
Rear reported on the status of the house. They will be getting a new vacuum cleaner as this one is putting out more dust than it brings in.
Dick Ingalls – Gov’t Liason - reported that he is talking to Aspasia about renewing our lease on the parking lot land. Tim suggested that we look into a long term mutual easement – Dick did not think they would agree to that, but he would ask.
The launch committee asked the trustees for guidance on looking into replacing the trailer for the Stone. Both of our trailers are older and not in the best of shape, the one for the Stone is undersized, the Ingalls trailer is band-aided. The trustees agreed that we should sort out what trailer capacity we need – weight for both boats is unknown at this point) and then pursue options. The trustees were hesitant to approve a purchase with the thought that we may be selling a launch at the end of the season, however if our trailers are not going to last much longer, we may need to act. Discussion focused on the use of the trailers (yard movement primarily, 1 trip a year outside of the club), the kind of trailer (bunks vs. roll on/off) and single/double axle. It was suggested that we could pick up a used one in the spring and/or see if repairs could be made to the trailer as part of a spring work party.
We then had a discussion regarding the closing of the clubhouse for the months of January, February and March. The original discussion focused on saving money based on utility costs, the commodore presented some figures from the past five years.

The discussion went around the group. Primarily the comments that followed focused on the access to the club by the membership (seen as a positive) the age of the club and lack of weather tightness (seen as a negative) and the general usage in the winter. We looked at the cost from previous years for heat. At that point we got a motion to re-open the budget motion from the previous meeting. The trustees agreed to re-consider the decision and leave the clubhouse open. We will try to regulate our heating costs with the programmed thermostat and discussions with the various user groups, and reassess in the spring.
The meeting wrapped up with a discussion about an honorary membership. Guy Gledhill proposed that we recognize Jack Callahan’s participation in the club as commodore, treasurer and trustee. The motion was made and approved with positive comments.
