Membership FAQ - 2009

Boating Membership

The base membership at Centerboard is $1100 per year. In addition, you also pay the following fees:

$250 initiation fee – this is a one time charge the first year.

$73 mooring fee for Portland/South Portland residents.

$140 mooring fee for all other towns (this fee is set by the Harbor Commissioner). The mooring fees are paid yearly.

$200/yr to the building fund for the first 5 yrs and then $50/yr thereafter.

Moorings are purchased by the new member and it is their responsibility to arrange placement and inspection of the mooring. The Mooring Committee Chairman determines where in the anchorage the mooring is to be placed. Frequently there is a mooring for sale by an outgoing member. The moorings must be inspected by a certified diver the first year and every other year thereafter before you are allowed to put a boat on the mooring.

We do not store boats at the club. Members must arrange launching and hauling of their boats.

We do not allow boating partnerships. You must be the sole owner of the boat and it must be registered in your name.

We have available space for dinghy storage during the summer, both in the water or on a float rack. There is an additional charge of $25 for this.

Launch service is included in your membership dues.

Sponsors

If you don’t know anyone at the club to sponsor you, ask for a Membership Roster. There may be someone that belongs that you do know. You are welcome to stop by the club and say hello. I will be glad to meet you and show you around.

Social Membership

A social membership is $125 per year, plus a $35 initiation fee the first year. This entitles you to use the landside of the club only. A social member may not use the waterside, including launching of boats, use of club boats, or floats. You may attend meetings and social activities at the club.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you have any further questions, you may contact me at membership@centerboardyachtclub.org
