CYC Rules

CYC Rules as per By-Laws, Article XIV

CLUBHOUSE & GROUNDS

The clubhouse and grounds are for the exclusive use of the members, their families and guests. 

Members are welcome to bring guests to the Club but assume all responsibility for their guest’s actions.

Members have a duty to behave responsibly and to see that their family and guests behave responsibly. This duty includes the responsible use of alcohol in order to preserve the health and safety of all, the family atmosphere of the Club and to avoid disrupting the use and enjoyment of the Club by other members. 

Damage to Club property will be paid for by the member responsible. 

No club property shall be taken from the premises without permission from a member of the Bridge. 

The Club shall not be used for commercial purposes except as provided under our rental agreement. 

Use of the Clubhouse & grounds for social events is restricted and subject to our rental policy. The Trustees or an appointed committee must approve all events.  All events must be reviewed by and scheduled through the Rear Commodore. 

Members are responsible for cleaning up after themselves.  This includes the disposal of all refuse, litter and food debris on floors, counters or on the grounds.  

Members are responsible for cleaning all Club equipment they use and returning it to proper storage location. 

Members and guests will show courtesy and respect to all others at all times, both on and off the water.  “Social Members” have equal status to “Boating Members” on the lawn, clubhouse and parking lot.  Discrimination, harassing or bullying is against club policy.   

There will be no smoking in any and all CYC buildings at any time. 

The parking area is limited to members’ and guest’s vehicles only. Please attempt to park in an organized pattern and limit the number of vehicles using the lot whenever possible. 

Overnight parking is not allowed along fence due to fire regulations and parking in front of access gate is restricted to loading and unloading only. 

All mooring balls and chains left on the Club Grounds after November 1st will be considered abandoned and removed.  No ground tackle shall be left on the boat ramp at any time by any member or member’s contractor.  Any equipment left on the ramp will be considered abandoned and removed.

 

PETS

Pets are welcome.  Pets are to be under the immediate control of a responsible person at all times.  All pets shall be restrained so as not to become a nuisance or offensive.  Pet owners/supervisors are to “clean up” after their pets. 

FLOATS & DOCKS

The Steward on duty shall have the authority to exercise all Club By-Laws and house rules in the absence of a bridge member. 

Tie up time at the floats is limited to 30 minutes at any time when several yachts wish to use the floats. Boats shall be removed from the floats by their owners/captains upon request from the launch operator or Flag Officer.  No overnight berthing is allowed at the floats unless authorized by a member of the Bridge. Yachts left unattended for more than 30 minutes or overnight may be removed to a mooring at the owner's risk and expense and/or a $20 per night dockage fee may be assessed by any member of the Bridge. 

Only CYC member craft are allowed to use the floats without permission of the launch operator or a member of the Bridge except for boats participating in Club sponsored events such as a race. 

Any boat determined by the launch operator or a Bridge member (or any government authority) to be a potential or immediate risk to other boats or impending safe passage through the anchorage may be immediately relocated or secured at the owner's expense and risk. 

Fishing or swimming is prohibited from the floats. 

Life jackets must be worn on the floats and in the launches or any Club owned boat by all children under age 13.

No garbage or refuse is to be thrown overboard either at the floats or in the mooring area. 


Dinghy Rules

Dinghy tie-up and storage space is restricted to boats used exclusively as yacht tenders.

·       A dinghy is herein defined as a boat constructed of wood, fiberglass, plastic, or inflatable fabric, which is of an overall length not to exceed fourteen (14) feet and a beam not to exceed six and one-half feet (6.5’) feet for non-inflatable and inflatables.  

·       Personal watercraft, Jet Skis or similar powered watercraft, canoes, kayaks, Sunfish, dories, sailboards etc. are not considered dinghies and are not be permitted in either wet or dry storage.

·       All members' dinghies must be marked with the owner's mooring number and name on the inside of the transom in 3” letters.

·       Two (2) modes of storage will be available at the Centerboard Yacht Club

1.     Dry storage in racks located on the floats or on Club grounds

2.     Wet storage on one of the dinghy docks. 

·       Dinghy storage will be offered on a first -come/first-served basis as determined by receipt of dues payments due to limited space at the docks and on the racks.

·       Dinghies between 12 and 14 feet will be kept in the water behind the westernmost floats. Dinghies over 14 feet may not be kept on the floats without specific permission from the Trustees.

·       All in water dinghies will be secured to the dock by bow to dock only.

·       Only Boat Owning Members of the Club in good standing will be permitted to store dinghies at the Club in wet or dry storage

·       A Boat Owning Member may not have more than one space. Social Members may not keep a dinghy or any other type of boat at the Club.

·       All dinghies shall be kept in good useable condition. This includes keeping them properly tied and bailed out so they will not damage neighboring dinghies.

·       If the owner is not available to act promptly when needed, please provide the Vice Commodore with the name of someone who can tend your dinghy on short notice. Dinghies are the owner's responsibility; please do not ask the Club to act on your behalf.

·       Do not borrow or use a dinghy of another Club Member without their express permission.

·       The Vice Commodore and Stewards shall have the authority to segregate tie-up locations by type of dinghy, and shall have the authority to assign specific tie-up spots to individual dinghies.

·       All personal gear (such as dinghies, outboards, oars, fuel, sails, etc) shall be stored in designated areas only. Motor and gasoline storage is prohibited in the Clubhouse and the Steward's shack and locker room. Derelict dinghies will be removed from the premises.

ENFORCEMENT

The Club is not a policeman and each member is responsible for following these basic principles.  Any breaches of conduct should be submitted in writing to any member of the Board of Trustees.  If there is a breach of conduct, procedures will be followed as per the CYC By-Laws, Article X.

Commodore's Summary of the January Trustee's Meeting and February Club Meeting

Trustees Meeting, Thursday, January 26, 2012 1900 We had a good meeting on a cold and wet evening. There were 3 trustees absent. The Commodore’s Chat focused on ideas for the 75th anniversary season events. The meeting started with the reports from committees. Treasurer – the finances are consistent with expectations. Summer Cruise at leaving Cyc to parts unknown
