Visiting Vessel Information

Centerboard Yacht Club welcomes guests for overnight stays in Portland Harbor.  

We usually have moorings available on a first come, first served basis but do not accept reservationsPlease contact the Steward on Duty (generally 9AM to 9PM during the season but spring and fall hours may change) on channel 68 for mooring availability on the day of your arrival.  We have limited space but may be able to accommodate boats up to 36 feet, drawing less than 6 feet.

A $50/night facility fee is payable to the Steward which includes the right to access our facilities and the services of the Centerboard Club while on one of our moorings,  regardless of whether the facilities or services are used.  Available facilities and services include:

  • Laundry
  • Ice (cubes or blocks)
  • Shower
  • Launch
  • Use of Club Floats and Mooring area
  • Water and power at the docks
  • Trash and recycling bins
  • Phone and Internet which is available in and around the Clubhouse (see Steward for WIFI password)

Our launch drivers would be happy to ferry you to our club or across the harbor to Portland. Please hail them on channel 68 and clearly state "Centerboard Yacht Club Launch" to avoid confusion with our neighbors in Falmouth at PYC.

Grocery shopping can be done in South Portland at the local Hannaford-about a mile away and an easy walk on the greenbelt. Please ask our stewards for directions or to arrange a taxi ride.

Our docks have a depth of approximately 4 ft at low, so use caution approaching at low tide. See stewards for more info.

If you happen to be staying with us on a Wednesday night,  feel free to join our weekly race series as skipper, crew or just have dinner with us afterwards.  We usually meet on shore between 5:00 and 5:30.  First gun is at 6:00.

Transportation

Taxi cabs are available but the club is also on a bus route.  (Route 21).  For $1.50 the South Portland bus services provides  around South Portland.
 
Portland and South Portland have some great restaurants.  Here is a brief list of some of those nearby in South Portland that our member's recommend.  The Stewards can help you navigate to your choice.
